Annual Refresher Training
The club run safetyboat duty refresher training at the start of each season (and later in the season too) for club members who already have Powerboat Level 2. These are free of charge to members but must be booked in advance.

RYA Powerboat Courses
YDSC currently offers two powerboat courses which lead to RYA qualifications. These courses are only open to club members. If you are not a currently a club member you can join the club for a minimum period of 3 months in order to access the course- you can do this when booking. There is a fee for these courses.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course
This 16 hour (2 day) course combines Level 1 and 2 together. It is course to learn how handle a powerboat safely. No previous experience is required. Minimum age 12 years. The cost of this course is £179. Club members can get a discount in return for completing safetyboat duties- email for further information

RYA Safetyboat Course
This 16 hour (2 day) course is only open to those who already hold a Powerboat Level 2 certificate. It is about learning how to assist other craft on the water – sailing boats, windsurfers, canoes etc. The syllabus covers things such as how to right a capsized boat, how to tow, how to help someone stuck on a lee shore. Ideal for those undertaking club safetyboat duties. The cost of this course is £149.
