Event FAQs

What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel please let us know by email at . It will help if you quote your order number in the confirmatory email. The new policy is not to refund £10 donations for club training unless there are exentuating circumstances. Please do let us know as early as possible as it helps with instructor allocation and if the event is fully booked then someone else could take your place.

What do I need to bring?

As well as swimwear and a towel you will need to bring your own footwear (wetsuit boots or trainers), a waterproof top and gloves. The club can provide you with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

In a dinghy it is easy to get hit on the head by the boom (the metal bar at the  bottom on the sail) when learning to sail so a helmet is a good idea. All children under the age of 16 MUST wear a helmet on beginner training (Stages 1, 2 & 3 or Levels 1 & 2). Once attending club youth improver sessions it is at the discretion of parents, but all participants must always follow the advice of the instructors/ coaches leading the session.

Adult beginners are advised to wear a helmet, especially in windy conditions and when first learning in a single hander.
