Description
cYDSC is a RYA Recognised Training Centre and runs intensive 2 day courses that follow RYA syllabus and lead to RYA certificates. There is a charge OF £129 for these courses. The Level 3 course is ideal for those who have done the Level 2 but are then struggling to get going or have had a bit of a gap since they last sailed. Maybe you have just got a new boat and need help getting to grips with it, or want to learn a bit more about racing or get introduced to using a spinnaker. The course is very flexible – a refresher and refinement of Level 2 skills and then a look at things beyond depending on the needs of the participants.
These courses are only open to club members. If you are not a currently a club member you can join the club for a minimum period of 3 months in order to access the course and hopefully your experience will make you want to join the club permanently! For membership please contact and for further information on RYA courses please contact Erica Caswell at
Bookings close 7 days in advance.
Event FAQs
If you need to cancel please let us know by email at . It will help if you quote your order number in the confirmatory email. The refund policy is in the Booking terms. Please do let us know as early as possible as it helps with instructor allocation and if the event is fully booked then someone else could take your place.
As well as swimwear and a towel you will need to bring your own footwear (wetsuit boots or trainers), a waterproof top and gloves. The club can provide you with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet.
In a dinghy it is easy to get hit on the head by the boom (the metal bar at the bottom on the sail) when learning to sail so a helmet is a good idea. All children under the age of 16 MUST wear a helmet on beginner training (Stages 1, 2 & 3 or Levels 1 & 2). Once attending club youth improver sessions it is at the discretion of parents, but all participants must always follow the advice of the instructors/ coaches leading the session.
Adult beginners are advised to wear a helmet, especially in windy conditions and when first learning in a single hander.
For windsurfing, all children under the age of 16 MUST wear a helmet.
