Instructor Training

RYA Dinghy Instructor and Windsurfing Instructor Courses are offered at YDSC. These are paid courses which result in an RYA qualification.

RYA Dinghy Instructor

The Dinghy Instructor course is a 5 day course for people who are already experienced dinghy sailors who wish to learn how to teach sailing and become a qualified RYA Dinghy Instructor. To undertake this course you need to be a member of YDSC or another RYA affiliated club/centre, otherwise you would need to join the club for a minimum of 3 months. Candidates must pass a Pre-entry Assessment of their personal sailing ability prior to the course and hold a valid First Aid certificate and RYA Powerboat Level 2. For further information contact . RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor

The Start Windsurfing Instructor course allows candidates to teach the Start Windsurfing course and Stages 1 and 2 of the Youth Windsurfing Scheme. To undertake this course candidates should have an intermediate non-planing certificate, beach start and non-planing carve gybe clinics, RYA First Aid, RYA Powerboat Level 2 and “Safe and fun” course.
