Welcome to the youth section of the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club! This page is all about youth sailing at YDSC and what our youth members have been up to recently.
We have a variety of training opportunities that our Youth members are involved in, from the Saturday Beginners and Improvers levels to the national squads such as the RS Fevas, RS 200s and 29ers, to name just a few. Just check out the Training pages. We also run race development training for youth sailors who are ready to try racing. Race Development
We also have quite a large youth presence in our recreational sailing and racing over the summer season and the club Sunday racing all year round, and as well as this we have a number of youth members who compete at high levels and get amazing results.
At the moment we don’t have a Youth Sailing Rep, so if you are interested speak to our Commodore Paul or someone on the committee (or get your parents to!) . There’s not much to it and you get to see a bit of how the club works as well as helping your fellow sailors and boosting the profile of our young sailors.
Youth Club
Calling all our young sailors between the ages of 12 -17 to get sailing together. We have 4 dates on Saturday afternoons this summer aimed at getting our teenage sailors together to enjoy socialising, being out on the water and sailing with their own age group. Informal tuition and safety support provided by Steve Knight and Erica Caswell.
If you are a teenager and can sail a triangular course (and have RYA Youth Stage 3 or above), come and join in the fun. Activities will include skills development but also games and trying different things. Tell us what you fancy and we will see what we can arrange. Just £10 a session plus £5 if you need to hire a club boat. The dates are
17th May, 14th June, 28th June and 12th July, each session booked individually.
Bookings close at 2pm on the Thursday before.
